Hello Spartans!
My name is Christine Hernandez. This will be my 17th year teaching. My prior experience is in teaching junior high math and science. Having previously taught at the school community of St. Ignatius of Loyola Elementary, it is a tremendous joy to return to an MSJ Dominican school and to join the community of San Gabriel Mission Elementary.
I was born in Los Angeles, California, and attended Catholic elementary and high school. I went to Cal State Los Angeles for my English undergraduate degree and Multiple Subject Teaching credential. I completed my Masters of Urban Education and my Single Subject Science credential at Loyola Marymount University.
My teaching motto has always been that “students learn by doing,” and this is never more true than with STEM. I engage my students in hands-on learning and provide opportunities for students to problem solve, become innovators, and apply their knowledge. I encourage my students to have a growth mindset and to collaborate as they grow as scholars.
I am truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to teach at San Gabriel Mission Elementary School, and I look forward to a wonderful school year.
Blessings,
Mrs. Christine Hernandez
